Farm and Station Story
ETHIOPIA
Kuri Mountain Coffee traces its roots back to 1945, when Aaga Dinsa established a coffee farm in Kuri Kebele. His passion for coffee and honest work was carried on by his son, Fikadu Aaga, who supplied high-quality coffee to local markets for decades.
In 2015, Habtamu Fikadu built on this family legacy by founding Kuri Mountain Coffee, with the goal of elevating the tradition to a new level. He revitalized the original farm and built a modern processing station in Gidami, where coffee is processed to the highest standards.
In 2025, the company opened its own dry mill in Addis Ababa, gaining full control over the entire supply chain from harvest and initial processing to final preparation for export.
Today, Kuri Mountain Coffee works with nearly 400 farmers across more than 1,000 hectares in the Hambela and Uraga areas of the Guji Zone.
UGANDA
Coffee Gardens has been promoting ethical specialty coffee production and transparent connections between farmers and customers since 2017. Through collaboration with Falcon, they provide training in sustainable farming practices, including shade-grown coffee cultivation and improved harvesting techniques.
Processing
ETHIOPIA
This coffee comes from farmers in Hambela and Uraga, with whom Kuri Mountain Coffee maintains long-term partnerships. For this lot, they purchase only carefully selected dry cherries (known as jenfel) directly from farmers. Selection is based on color, ripeness, and aroma, as not all cherries meet the Grade 4 quality requirements.
The coffee is then hulled at the dry mill in Gidami to remove the dried husk. It is subsequently transported to Addis Ababa for final processing, polishing, grading, and preparation for export.
UGANDA
Fresh coffee cherries are pulped and fermented for 20 hours in plastic tanks without water. They are then thoroughly washed with cool mountain spring water, dried on African raised beds in solar dryers, and subsequently sorted through 12 processing stages.

ETHIOPIA
This coffee comes from Ethiopian varieties 74112 and 74110, bred for high quality and resistance to disease. Thanks to the high altitude and the unique microclimate of Guji, they develop a complex flavor profile with rich aromatics.

This coffee was grown high in the Ugandan mountains near the village of Zebigi and processed by Coffee Gardens. The coffee company has a station below the mountain where most farmers live; they know all of them in person. They blend the coffee into micro lots by combining coffees with similar flavor characteristics processed on the same day.

Our decaffeinated coffee tastes like a fresh orange cake, cane sugar, and white tea. It was processed naturally and then decaffeinated using natural sugar cane method. You can read more about this great method in the article on the blog here.

Why Inza Matters
Inza isn’t just another coffee – it’s a story of resilience and connection. This year, our “dad” Petr traveled there, and even though local unrest nearly kept him from reaching the region, he eventually met the people behind this coffee.
High in the mountains of Cauca, smallholder farmers grow coffee on steep slopes, most of the work done by hand. Their dedication to quality shines through in every cup.
