Farm and station story
TCG – Zebigi coffee comes from the Mt Elgon region in eastern Uganda, an area known for its rich volcanic soils and ideal conditions for growing specialty Arabica. The farms are located at altitudes between 1 800 and 2 200 m a.s.l., where cooler temperatures and rich biodiversity contribute to slower cherry ripening and more intense flavour development.
Processing
This coffee undergoes a process known as dry fermentation, where the depulped coffee is fermented without the addition of water. This method enhances the sweetness and complexity of the cup while preserving bright acidity and a rich texture.
Variety
This lot combines three notable Arabica varieties. SL14 is a traditional Ugandan variety valued for its gentle citrus notes and light tea-like body, while being disease-resistant for consistent quality. SL28, originally from Kenya, is renowned for its intense fruitiness, sweetness, and blackcurrant notes, making it one of the most sought-after varieties in the specialty coffee world. Nyasaland is a historic variety from Malawi, offering delicate floral and tea-like notes complemented by a light citrus sweetness.
