Why Uganda Matters

Namugowa isn’t just another specialty coffee. It’s part of a bigger story that we’ve poured a piece of ourselves into. A year ago, we had the chance to be right there in Uganda – to meet the farmers who grow the coffee, to see the process from harvest to drying. And that’s when we realized we wanted to do even more.

Together with The Coffee Gardens, we co-financed the opening of a QC Lab in Uganda. This quality control laboratory enables farmers to evaluate their harvest directly on site, refine their practices, and, as a result, achieve fairer prices.

Every cup of Namugowa is not only about flavor, but also about the future. About giving farmers the tools and knowledge that open doors to better conditions and stability. And that’s exactly why we love returning to Uganda.🤎

Farm and Station Story
The Coffee Gardens was founded in 2017 to produce specialty coffee ethically, creating a direct link between farmers and consumers. The project focuses on improving farmers’ livelihoods, creating rural employment, promoting gender equality, increasing transparency and traceability throughout the supply chain, and protecting the environment in the Mt Elgon region.
Since 2019, The Coffee Gardens has been working with Falcon, and the volume of joint projects has grown from the initial 26 bags to 3-4 containers of coffee per year.

Processing
This coffee is processed using the cherry fermentation washed method. Fresh coffee cherries are fermented before pulping, which enhances sweetness and fruitiness. The coffee is then washed and dried on raised beds to preserve its clarity and complexity.

Varietal
This lot combines three notable varietals: the Ugandan classic SL14, known for its delicate citrus notes and lightly tea-like body; the legendary Kenyan SL28, celebrated for its intense fruitiness and blackcurrant notes; and the historic Nyasaland arabica from Malawi, which adds gentle floral and tea notes with a touch of citrus sweetness.
