Farm and Station Story
The Gitare Factory is located in the Kiambu region of Kenya and is part of the Gititu Farmers Cooperative Society, which was established in 1954. The station processes coffee cherries from approximately 1,000 smallholder farmers and handles around 2,500 metric tonnes of coffee annually. In addition to coffee, farmers often grow bananas and maize, and they make use of coffee pulp mixed with compost as a natural fertilizer.
Processing Method
The coffee is processed using the washed method, which highlights the clarity and brightness of the cup. Fresh cherries are depulped and fermented, then thoroughly washed and dried on raised beds to preserve optimal flavour characteristics.
Varietal
This coffee comes from the Kenyan varietals SL28 and SL34, which are renowned for their high quality, pronounced fruitiness, and vibrant acidity.
We work with several couriers worldwide, the table HERE specify the conditions for each country.

Why Uganda Matters
Namugowa isn’t just another specialty coffee. It’s part of a bigger story that we’ve poured a piece of ourselves into. A year ago, we had the chance to be right there in Uganda – to meet the farmers who grow the coffee, to see the process from harvest to drying. And that’s when we realized we wanted to do even more.
Together with The Coffee Gardens, we co-financed the opening of a QC Lab in Uganda. This quality control laboratory enables farmers to evaluate their harvest directly on site, refine their practices, and, as a result, achieve fairer prices.
Every cup of Namugowa is not only about flavor, but also about the future. About giving farmers the tools and knowledge that open doors to better conditions and stability. And that’s exactly why we love returning to Uganda.🤎
