This Rwandan coffee won us over all over again
Tumba is back. This Red Bourbon from the Rulindo region caught our attention with its clarity, sweetness, and fruit-forward character. A naturally processed Rwandan coffee with this level of balance is rare, and that’s exactly why we’ve brought Tumba back into our lineup. Sourced from a small station near the village of Mukoto, Tumba brings together meticulous processing and a strong sense of community — a combination we truly value
The story of the Tumba station and its producer, Venuste
Tumba was founded by Venuste, a former schoolteacher who was inspired by his family’s coffee-growing tradition and chose to dedicate himself fully to the craft. Today, he employs 12 permanent staff and up to 95 seasonal workers during harvest, with over 1,650 smallholder farmers delivering cherries to the station. In 2022 alone, this amounted to 290,000 kg of cherries, all processed with a focus on quality and detail.
Venuste sees his role as one of service to the community. From cherry collection to processing and storage, everything follows strict quality standards he’s established for himself.
How coffee is processed at Tumba
Once delivered, ripe cherries are hand-sorted and floated in water to remove low-density or damaged fruit. They are then moved to pre-drying tables for a second round of visual inspection.
Drying takes place on traditional raised African beds, which ensure optimal airflow and even moisture distribution. The cherries are turned regularly, and the full drying process lasts between 25 – 30 days, depending on weather conditions.
After drying, the outer husk is mechanically removed, and the green coffee is stored under ideal conditions. Thanks to the region’s favourable climate, the station operates year-round.
Variety
Tumba is built on Red Bourbon, a traditional Rwandan variety known for thriving at higher altitudes. Combined with natural processing, it yields a cup with gentle sweetness, floral notes, and citrus brightness — hallmarks of high-quality Rwandan coffees.
We work with several couriers worldwide, the table HERE specify the conditions for each country.

Why Uganda Matters
Zebigi isn’t just another specialty coffee. It’s part of a bigger story that we’ve poured a piece of ourselves into. A year ago, we had the chance to be right there in Uganda – to meet the farmers who grow the coffee, to see the process from harvest to drying. And that’s when we realized we wanted to do even more.
Together with The Coffee Gardens, we co-financed the opening of a QC Lab in Uganda. This quality control laboratory enables farmers to evaluate their harvest directly on site, refine their practices, and, as a result, achieve fairer prices.
Every cup of Zebigi is not only about flavor, but also about the future. About giving farmers the tools and knowledge that open doors to better conditions and stability. And that’s exactly why we love returning to Uganda.🤎

This coffee was grown high in the Ugandan mountains near the village of Zebigi and processed by Coffee Gardens. The coffee company has a station below the mountain where most farmers live; they know all of them in person. They blend the coffee into micro lots by combining coffees with similar flavor characteristics processed on the same day.
